Jan 1st: New Years Day Walk

Unbelievable! 25 walkers started 2025 at 7am on Jan 1 morning by walking 7km in Blr’s CBD (New Year Party Central) on a TRASHure Hunt! We expected to see mounds of trash from the massive street party that ended a few hours earlier – and we were stunned. The streets were clean, the footpaths were walkable and it was impossible to believe that the place had been a wild, party zone a few hours earlier.

The BBMP had thrown a challenge (as has been a tradition for the past few years) – come on New Year morning and walk on MG Rd, Brigade Rd, Church Street and surrounding areas at 7am and see how clean it is.

And, of course, there are always eager walkers who want to get their 10,000 steps in the morning fresh air – on footpaths, and on Jan 1! Total win-win.

We started at Trinity Metro at 7am, and walked on MG Rd, Richmond Rd, Residency Rd, St Marks Rd, Church Street, Brigade Rd and surrounding streets – all was clean, calm and extremely pleasant!

Full marks to Blr Police, Team BBMP, Marshals and all those tasked with managing the New Year Party, and its aftermath! We met with Team BBMP at the end of the walk, and some of the walkers had very nice things to say to them.

We had Jimmy Xavier on the walk too (Jimmy and I had made some cool Reels together that went truly viral with millions of views), so there was an added element of fun, in addition to the regular story-telling on the walk.
