Dec 8th: Sir MV’s Dream

Video

Why is Bengaluru the Tech Capital? What is the role of visionaries like Sir MV in laying the foundations of the ecosystem that we benefit from today? Over 130 walkers walked over 10,000 steps on footpaths this morning to find out.

Flagged off by Dr. Ekroop Caur, Secretary (GoK) IT, Biotech & Electronics, a diverse group of history seekers and avid walkers explored the city centre areas where Bharat Ratna Sir MV grew up and studied, visited the multiple memorials erected in his honour, learnt about the institutions that he founded and inspired, and walked past places where he spent his retirement.

Specifically, he had a vision that a pedestrianised walkway between Cubbon Park and Lalbagh would be a boon for the city – it didn’t happen in his lifetime, and today’s walk was an attempt to realise his vision by walking on footpaths from Cubbon Park to Lalbagh!

Today was Walk 8 of the BLRWalkFest, a unique program to walk 100km on interconnected footpaths over 15 days – each day being a different non-overlapping loop of 7-8km (10,000 steps) with a different theme.

57km done, 43km to go!
