Do you know the Karnataka Story? How Mysore state was formed, the forces and people behind it, and how this is relevant to understanding today’s Bengaluru?

80 walkers decided to walk 10,000 steps on BLR’s footpaths to learn more about the rich history of our beloved state. Starting with a loud rendition of the National Anthem in front of the Vidhana Soudha (there was a reason for that, of course!), the group traced the story of this land from 1,500 years ago to the present day, visiting multiple centres of power along the way.

It’s always nice when descendants of old Blr families join the walk (we have had several in the past few walks), and today we had a member of the Ubhayakar family telling us about his ancestral links to the area.

As always, we ventured into areas even die-hard locals had never seen, or had just whizzed by, and discovered several new artefacts hiding in plain sight. There is always so much to uncover when you walk and look around.

The response to the walks has been simply overwhelming, am simply amazed at the enthusiasm and spirit of Blr folks to come out in the morning to explore the city on foot(path).

Today was Walk 10 of the BLRWalkFest, a unique program to walk 100km on interconnected footpaths over 15 days – each day being a different non-overlapping loop of 7-8km (10,000 steps) with a different theme.

73km done, 27km to go!
